We, the people, of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution for the United States of America.learn it now

In order to form a more perfect union.... revise the Articles of Confederation

establish justice... make it predictable that people are treated equally according to the laws...

ensure domestic tranquility...avoid the problems such as those which arose, like Shay's rebellion, or the Maryland/Virginia navigational problem...

promote the general welfare...make sure people can pay their taxes, keep their farms, find jobs, trade across state lines...

to ourselves and our posterity...it's going to have to last indefinitely into the future, longer than the Articles worked...
