Art 101 Syllabus

Art 101 will be split into two portions:
1. two dimensional design and the elements of art with Mrs. Milici for one quarter [9 weeks] and
2. three dimensional design and the elements of art with Mr. Dillon for the second quarter [9 weeks].

[Cubby Covers and Elements of Art Posters will be done once at the beginning of the semester in whichever classroom you are in.]

Mrs. Milici’s groups will create a Texture Dragon, a Color Project, a Value Portrait, a One Point Perspective Drawing, a Positive/Negative project, an Atmospheric Perspective, and some Lines Projects during the quarter.

Mr. Dillon’s groups will create Wire sculpture, Glass etching, Clay Pottery, Masks, Linoleum prints, Plasma metal design.

At the end of the semester each student must put together a portfolio of their best work to present to their advisory group and save for senior portfolios. Portfolios must include at least three projects from each quarter. (Works can be original, scanned, or photographed.)

You will receive a grade from each quarter which will carry over to the second quarter and be averaged into a final grade. So, one grade from projects in Mrs. Milici’s room and another grade from work in Mr. Dillon’s class.

If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask either Mr. Dillon or Mrs. Milici.

You will need to acquire or make a sketchbook for taking notes and writing reflections and sketching daily doodle words.
