Title VII/ Indian Education Program
The Title VII, Indian Education Program has been assisting eligible Native American students since the law was first passed by Congress in 1972. The program provides support through supplemental academic assistance and cultural enrichment.
The program is funded through Title VII of the No Child Left Behind law (NCLB). It is a formula grant, which means that school districts are eligible to apply for a grant and the funding received is based upon a formula that includes the number of eligible children who attend school in the district.
The purpose of the program is to support schools as they provide opportunities for Native students in meeting the state academic standards.
