Dear Parents,

Our vision is to inspire students to learn by challenging the potential of every child within a supportive community.

I would like to share some information about Forks Elementary School.

We have:

bullet

Talented, experienced and dedicated teachers and staff who genuinely care about our students.

bullet

Highly involved parents and community who volunteer at Forks and fundraise on the elementary school’s behalf.

bullet

After school activities vary depending on the time of the year. They have included homework club, basketball and scouts.

bullet

Strong and successful literacy instructional program that strives to meet individual student needs. Students who need extra challenge are provided it on a daily basis, as well as students who need extra support and instruction.

In an effort to help our students succeed we have decided to hold intervention classes before school.  Students will come into a specialized class for reading, math, and writing, or other specialized class starting at 8:15 or 8:30 each morning.  Teachers will work on specific skills in each area, to help further the educational opportunities for the students.  Teachers will choose students by looking the strengths and weakness of the student as seen in assessments and by the classroom teachers’ observation.  Teachers will be pulling students in groups of 6 to 8.  If your student is not chosen for the first session that does not mean that they may not be selected later.  Every few weeks teachers will asses their groups and make changes according to student needs.   Each teacher will contact parents regarding the intervention that they think will best suit their child/children.

This is my second year at Forks Elementary as principal and I truly love this school and community. You won't find better teachers, or parents at any another school. We are a community that truly cares and have invested our time, efforts and talents into making Forks an excellent school for all students.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with specific questions. I can be reached at (360)-374-6262 ext 361 or at pwinn@esd114.wednet.edu.  Thanks for all you do!  We are going to have a fantastic year!
