Grading
Policy
Late assignments can earn no higher than 70 %.
Your over all grade at
the end of the first and second trimester must be 70% or you will
have to attend academic detention.
For the third
trimester, You must earn 70% in every
subject or you will earn a spot in summer school.
Students can redo many of
the assignments given in class. Questions out of a book, worksheets, and similar
assignments may be redone. Students MUST use new paper and staple the new
assignment over the old assignment.
The highest grade you will earn for a
redo is 80%. If you redo an assignment, you must redo ALL of the
questions you missed on the original assignment.
Projects and tests may
NOT be redone.

How to answer a question?
In
5th grade
written answers should include the following.
-
You restated the question in your answer.
-
Your answer should be in complete and grammatically correct
sentences.
-
You have the correct answer.
-
You used details to support your answer or thinking.
Example: What is
your favorite book?
My favorite book is Julie of the Wolves by
Jean Craighead George. This book tells the story of how a
young Eskimo girl is able to survive with the help of a wolf
pack. After reading this book, I became interested and started
reading everything I could on wolves. Today wolves are still one
of my favorite animals and it all started with Ms George's book.
I will send progress reports home every Thursday. Attached to the
report will be a parent signature slip. This slip needs to be signed and
returned to me. If the signature slip is not returned, students will call home
during recess to ask for help remembering to return the slip. Only the
slip needs to be returned and the report is yours to keep. If I am not at
school on a Thursday, I will not send a progress reports home that week. This
generally creates less confusion. If you have a concern feel free to stop in,
email, or call me.
This progress report will tell you the name of the subject, the
assignment, the value, and the score received to date. There will be an
overall grade at the bottom. Remember that students must earn at least 75%. Some
assignments will say NR after their name. This indicates “NO REDO
ALLOWED.” This is usually found on test and projects.
Class schedule
Students remember that you need to take all of your materials with you to
your other classes. This way you won't interrupt other students' learning.
I have listed four
ways to print what you need. These are in the order that I would do it.
OPTION 1
If you have
Microsoft Word at home, I suggest you download the original file and then print
it. This will give you a copy exactly like the one passed out in class.
OPTION 2 (most printers)
Highlight the content that you want to print. Go to FILE and PRINT.
You should see a section that will allow you to "print the selection".
Click this and only what you highlight will print.
OPTION 3 Highlight the content you
wish to print, then copy it (Edit, copy). Now start a word processing
program and paste it (Edit, paste). Then print as you normally would.
OPTION 4
You can simply click the
print button on your browser. Warning, printing a web page can result in
unexpected results. Extra pages may be printed or you may use more color
than you expect. You will also be printing everything on the page
including the navigation bars. You may want to turn off background
printing so you don't waste ink.
