Fiction Traditional Literature: Stories that are passed down orally from one group to another in history. This includes folktales, fairy tales, fables, legends, trickster tales, and myths from various cultures. Fantasy: Made-up stories that have some element that could not be true or could not happen in this world, such as fairies, magic, or talking animals. Science Fiction: A type of fantasy that uses science and technology. Realistic Fiction: Stories that can be true to life but are mostly made-up from the author's imagination. Historical Fiction: Stories that are made-up but include an historical event and/or may have some correct historical facts. Nonfiction Informational: Texts that provide factual information to the readers. Biography: The author tells the story of a real person's life. Autobiography: The person tell the story of his or her own life. Memoir: The author tells about an experience or a part of his or her life.
