Nouns

Nouns can be:  People, Places, Things, or Ideas

Nouns can be singular or plural. 

Nouns can be common or proper.

Nouns can be abstract thoughts.

There are eight uses of nouns in English Language.

Subjects   The cat hid in the basement.
Predicate Noun My cat is the greatest hunter.
Appositive My cat, who is a great hunter, caught a mouse.
Direct Object My cat caught the mouse in the basement.
Indirect Object of a Verb Should I give the cat a reward?
Object of a Preposition I will give him a bowl of warm milk.
Object Compliment I named my cat Hunter.
Possessive Hunter's reputation now keeps the mice away.
